Eramet to withdraw 2020 guidance

Eramet has withdrawn its 2020 guidance for the year owing to COVID-19-related market uncertainties. The company’s mining and metallurgy production have not been impacted yet, but the company said it was preparing to deal with any sudden changes to the current situation. The company added its mine and metallurgical departments were in a position to provide for the ordered volumes at present though the miner was cutting down on cost and capital expenditure. Eramet’s Indonesian joint venture that produces low grade nickel ferroalloy is still expected to be on schedule. The company is also reorganizing it’s production across different plants to ensure smooth operations after its plant in France temporarily suspended operations.

Noront stops Esker site project

Noront Resources has temporarily closed its Esker site project in Ring of Fire in Ontario to curtail COVID-19’s spread. The Esker project produces nickel and copper ore among other metals. The company now plans to shift its focus on completing the metallurgical  testing at the core of Eagle’s Nest Drill program. This program will help understand if separate nickel and copper concentrates can be produced. Furthermore, the company indicated its offices in Toronto and Thunder Bay remain operational with employees working remotely.
