JSW steel’s Jan crude steel output drops 3pc 

JSW steel’s crude steel output from India operations was 1.410mn  in Jan 2020, down 2.95pc from 1.453mn mt in January 2019. The production of flat rolled products accounted for 73pc and  long rolled products for 24pc share of the total. 

 

The production of flat rolled products was at 1.025mn mt in January 2020, down by 1.4pc from 1.040mn mt in Jan19. Production of long rolled products was 0.342mn mt, down by 1pc from 0.344mn mt in Jan19.

 

China’s Rizhao Steel to build two Blast furnaces 

China’s Rizhao Steel has announced to commence  operations from two new blast furnaces and two converters in the Shandong province. The construction of blast furnaces with a cumulative 5mn mt capacity and two converters of 6mn mt capacity will begin in 2020, according to the company. Completion of construction is likely to end by 2022.

 

Shandong province is planning to close down total eight absolute furnaces with total capacity of 5.69mn mt to reduce levels. Five converters with a total 6.66mn mt capacity are expected to shut in the coming days. These capacities will be replaced by Rizhao Steel’s new capacity.
