India-based Kamdhenu plans to increase production capacity to 5mn mt by fiscal 2022 through franchise operations. Kamdhenu targets total steel production of 2.6mn mt in fiscal 2020.
The company has an installed capacity of around 3.3mn mt of steel rebar through franchisees. Kamdhenu also produces 5,00,000mt structural steel and 2,50,000mt colour-coated profile sheet through franchise route.
In Q3 2020, Kamdhenu sold 600,000mt steel, which is almost unchanged from the prior year and in nine months (Apr-Dec) the company’s sales volume was 1.81mn mt, up by 11pc from the prior year.
Kamdhenu expanded capacity of its manufacturing unit in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan to about 1,56,000mt from 72,000mt. The plant’s capacity utilization is around 80pc, which it intends to take to 90pc in the next financial year.
Kamdhenu is a leading rebar producer with a pan-India presence in the retail segment. The company has more than 75 franchise unit across India, which produce steel rebars, structural steel products and colour-coated profile sheets.
