Indian shipbreaking prices trended flat to down on Wednesday amid slow demand from re-rollers in Mandi Gobindgarh and Gujarat. The daily Davis Indexes for 8Ani and 10Ani settled flat at Rs32,150/mt ($437.18/mt) ex-Alang and Rs32,750/mt ($445.34/mt) ex-Alang, respectively. Trades concluded at index price.
Among other rolling scrap grades, the daily Davis Index for 5kg plates declined by Rs200/mt to Rs31,500/mt ex-Alang with a few deals reported at index price.
The daily Davis Index for HMS attachments and Melting declined by Rs200/mt each to Rs30,000/mt and Rs29,000/mt, ex-Alang, respectively. Shipbreakers are expecting the prices to increase in the near term.
