India has initiated a probe into the alleged dumping of electro-galvanized steel used in the automobile and electronic industries originating from Korea, Singapore, and Japan.
The investigation was launched after American Precoat Specialty Pvt. Ltd, a domestic manufacturing company, applied with the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR).
The primary concern of the directorate will be to check if the product is being dumped by the three nations and its effect on the domestic industry.
After the probe into the allegation, if the DGTR establishes a dent in the domestic margin due to the dumping, it would recommend anti-dumping duty to protect the domestic industry against imports at less than fair value.
