India’s shipbreaking scrap prices fell on Thursday amid slow demand from mills. The daily Davis Index for Melting declined by Rs300/mt($3.96/mt) to Rs21,950/mt ex- Alang.
The daily Davis Index for 6Ani fell by Rs50/mt to Rs25,600/mt ex- Alang. Trades were heard at the index price. Shipbreakers stayed away from ship purchases as they await demand for scrap to rise.
The daily index for 2kg plates declined by Rs50/mt to Rs25,600/mt ex -Alang. Trades for 2kg plates were heard at the index price. The index for 5kg plates declined by Rs150/mt to Rs25,900/mt ex- Alang and transactions were reported at the index price on Thursday.
The daily Davis Indexes for 4Ani declined by Rs267/mt to Rs24,450/mt, 12Ani declined by Rs200/mt to Rs26,550/mt and 14Ani declined by Rs100/mt to Rs26,650/mt ex -Alang.
A container named M.V West Scent from Japan has arrived at the port recently. The ship has displacement weight of 5,604mt. Two more ships with displacement weights of 2,950mt and 5,645mt await beaching permission.
