Davis Index – Daily metal prices, scrap prices & global metal market

Turkish steel producer Celik Enerji Tersane ve Ulasim Sanayi (ICDAS) has asked the Canada Border Service Agency (CBSA) to reevaluate the antidumping duty (AD) order levied on its steel products shipped to Canada.

In a recent letter to the CBSA, the Turkish steelmaker informed that declining steel rebar prices in its domestic market, the result of the 41pc AD levied on exports to Canada, no longer reflects the current market situation.

In order to avoid misalignment of trade and to permit ICDAS to participate in the Canadian steel rebar market, it has requested the CBSA to reopen the “normal values for future shipments” review of its rebar investigation, initially published on December 18, 2018.
