Transport, Advance and Modular (TrAM), an aluminum-heavy electric passenger ferry project in Norway that’s being billed as the first of its kind, has welcomed Hydro into the fold.
The ferries will each be constructed with 25-30mt of aluminium and contain panels and extrusions. According to a news statement from Hydro, Shipyard work should commence in 2021-2022, with the ferries operational by 2022-2023.
Three ferries will be built under the TrAM project, one of which will service Norway’s Stavanger region while the other two are London- and Belgium-bound.
The project endeavors to reduce CO2 emissions by using low-carbon aluminium extrusions, Hydro added.
