Hungary’s industrial production fell by 11pc in the first eight months of the year compared to the same period last year, according to Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH).
The country’s industrial production in August alone declined by 2.1pc from August 2019 while it grew by 6.8pc from the previous month. While most of the manufacturing segments declined, the production of transport equipment increased substantially, thus contributing to the mainly contributed to the increase compared with July 2020.
Hungary’s industrial production touched rock bottom in April, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. In August, it had recovered by 56pc from those levels, KSH noted.
