Hudbay Minerals has resumed full operations at its 777 mine in Manitoba, Canada after a skip hoist accident in early October forced the miner to pause production.

The mining company said in a news release on Wednesday that it completed repairs to the damaged shaft ahead of schedule and under the budgeted $5mn. On Oct 26 Hudbay resumed limited production as it estimated costs and planned for a December restart.

During the restorative activities, the zinc and copper miner moved equipment and staff from the affected mine to its Lalor mine in Snow Lake to offset the loss in production.

The company maintains its 2020 full-year production and unit cost guidance for its Manitoba business section, but, expects that its Q4 production and sales volumes will be affected.

Hudbay’s 777 mine produces 3,000mt of daily zinc and copper while its Lalor mine’s daily output is 4,500mt.
