Japanese auto manufacturers Honda’s production dropped by 23pc in July as compared to the prior year. July production fell to 324,117 vehicles impacted by production cuts due to a short supply of semiconductors.

 

Honda’s production in Japan, however, jumped by 9pc to 63,302 units in July over the same month a year ago. Outside Japan, output was down 29pc in July to 260,815 units.

 

The highest fall in production was in China, 45pc lower at 98,436 units as compared to the prior year. North American production slipped by 23pc and Asia by 34pc, mostly led to the fall in Chinese production. Production fall in Europe was less severe at 7,444 units, down 6pc from July 2020.  

 

Japanese production is up year-on-year for the second consecutive month. Production outside Japan and worldwide has dipped year-on-year for the second consecutive month.  

 

Sales in July for the Japanese market stood at 52,572 units, flat from a year ago. Japanese sales experienced a year-on-year drop for the second consecutive month in July.
