Vietnamese steelmaker Hoa Sen exported 121,000mt of galvanized steel, with export revenue worth over US$100mn in February 2021, achieving a new export record for the material despite the Tết holiday.
The galvanized steel producer accounts for almost 50pc of total steel exports from Vietnam to over 85 countries and holds around 40pc of the Vietnamese domestic steel sheets market share. In January, Hoa Sen also sold 40,359mt of pipe steel.
According to the Vietnam Steel Association (VSA), the steel industry increased its production by 60pc to 2.65mn mt in January 2020 compared to the same month a year ago. Steel sales volumes rose by 55pc to 2.11mn mt compared to the same month last year. Export volumes climbed by 61pc to 457,000mt or 21.7pc of total sales.
