Leading Indian aluminum producer launched India’s first all-aluminum freight trailer. The trailer is built with high-strength aluminum alloy and is 50pc lighter than steel.
Hindalco’s 34-foot long aluminum trailer saves fuel as it can carry 2.5mt of extra load per trip compared to its steel equivalent. The new trailers are expected to reduce logistics cost by 10-15pc.
Aluminium trailers represent a business turnover potential of around Rs500-600 crore at 50pc adaption for Hindalco. The annual Indian trailer production is estimated to be around 20,000 units and is expected to grow at 10-12pc/yr.
