Odisha High Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) gave its nod to invest Rs178.33bn($2.5bn) in three projects including ramping up the capacity of Rungata Mines’ existing integrated steel plant.
The annual capacity of integrated steel plant will increase to 900,000mt from the present 270000mt at an investment of Rs21.35bn. In other projects, HLCA approved a new greenfield alumina refinery unit project with an annual capacity of 2mn mt at an estimated cost Rs80bn($1.1bn), proposed by Hindalco Industries.
HLCA also cleared NTPC’s proposal to ramp up the capacity at its coal fired thermal power station at Talcher Thermal (TTPS). TTPS is expanding two supercritical units of 660 MW, by spending Rs76.98bn on each.
