General Motors announced that its Spring Hill plant in Tennessee will join its ZERO factory in Detroit and Hamtramck and Orion Assembly in the manufacture of electric vehicles.

In the past year and half, the company invested close to $4.5bn at all three manufacturing plants to prepare them for EV production. About $2bn of that amount has been invested in the Spring Hill plant, GM said in a statement.

The car producer intends to produce its new EV Cadillac LYRIQ at the Spring Hill plant, which, in addition to EVs, will produce traditional vehicles.

The company hasn’t disclosed when it will launch the plants.
