Germany’s crude steel output rose by 18.1pc to 20.6mn t (18.7mn mt) in H1 2021 compared to the same period in 2020, according to the German Steel Federation (WV Stahl). In June, the country’s crude steel output grew by 38.2pc annually to 3.4mn t. 

 

The country’s steel output from blast oxygen furnaces increased by 20.6pc to 14.1mn t in the first six months of the year against H2 2020 and its output in June rose by 48pc to 2.27mn t from the same month last year, WV Stahl noted. 

 

Production of steel from electric arc furnaces in the six-month period rose by 13.1pc to 6.5mn t against H1 2020 while its output in June rose by 22.3pc to 1.15mn t from June 2020. 

 

Pig iron production from January-June grew by 19.4pc to 13mn t from the same period in 2020 and was up by 45.3pc to 2.1mn t last month against June 2020. 

 

Germany’s hot-rolled steel production grew by 20.4pc to 18.2mn t in the first six months of 2021 compared to H1 2020 and its output rose by 45pc to 3mn t in June 2021 on an annual basis, WV Stahl reported.
