Germany’s manufacturing orders increased by 2.5pc in January this year compared to a year ago, according to the country’s Federal Statistical Office (Destatis).
Compared to December 2020, manufacturing orders rose by 1.5pc in January, Destatis stated. The country’s domestic orders dropped by 2.6pc in January from the previous month while its foreign orders rose by 4.2pc. Intermediate goods manufacturers saw a 0.2pc rise in new orders, while capital goods manufacturers saw a 3.3pc increase in new orders in January 2021 compared to December 2020, Destatis reported. Germany’s consumer goods orders, on the other hand, fell by 5.8pc in January from the previous month.
