Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

In June 2021, France’s households’ confidence index in the economic situation increased to 102 from 98 in May, above the 100 threshold, for the first time since the start of the pandemic in early 2020, according to the French National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE).

 

France’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) for June 2021 rose by 1.5pc from the same month a year ago. In May the index rose by 1.4pc compared to the same year-ago month. The CPI in June rose 0.3pc against the preceding month. 

 

Industrial producer prices 

France’s industrial producer prices in May 2021 rose by 6.6pc against May 2020 and climbed by 0.4pc against the preceding month. The industrial producer prices rose by 6pc in April 2021 against the same month a year-ago. 

 

Prices for the domestic market rose by an increase of 0.5pc in May 2021 against the preceding month after a decline of 0.8pc in April. 

The domestic prices for mining and quarrying products, energy, and water declined by 0.4pc in May 2021 against the preceding month but rose by 11pc compared May 2020. Basic metals prices rose by 2.2pc in May 2021 against the preceding month. In April, prices increased by 2.6pc. 

 

The export producer prices for foreign industrial markets decelerated to an increase of 0.3pc in May 2021 after the export prices rose by 0.7pc in April. Basic metals’ export prices rose by 3.3pc in May and 3.5 in April against the previous months’ levels. Import prices of industrial products increased by 1.5pc in May 2021 from a month ago driven by an increase of 0.9pc rise in manufactured products. The import price rose by 10.5pc in May 2021 against the same a year ago. Metals import prices rose by 4.1pc in May 2021 from the preceding month.
