American carmaker Ford has warned of 50pc less production in Q2 2021 as the global semiconductor shortage continues. The company estimates $2.1bn in production losses, translating to 1.1 million units.
The carmaker currently has 22,000 units waiting in US plants to complete battery installation. These include their popular pickup truck models, according to media reports on Thursday.
Ford has also slashed its full-year 2021 adjusted EBIT to $5.5-6.5bn as against $8-9bn estimates in February this year, it noted in its Q1 2021 earnings release on Apr 29.
The company reported a 1.1pc increase in Q1 2021 sales at 521,334 units earlier this month.
