Automobiles manufacturer Fiat Chrysler has restarted its operations in Brazil. The company will follow all requisite mandates as it gradually resumes production at three factories. Operations in the country were on a halt from March 25 amid COVID-19 lockdown.

 

These plants will go through reorganization of processes and has adopted new measures to boost production. Sanitization, health and safety measures have been put in place to keep COVID-19 at bay. Production will be ramped-up to meet market demand. Before they were shuttered,  two of the plants, produced 2,600 units per day.

 

In Latin America, Fiat’s shipments were down by 12pc in Q1 (Jan – March) primarily due to temporary suspension of production. Fiat Chrysler posted a net loss of EUR1.7bn in Q1 due to COVID-19 impact.

 

Fiat is preparing to resume operations in North American manufacturing units. Plants in North America were shut around March 18. In Italy and China, the company’s operations have already resumed.
