Ferriere Nord has upgraded its Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) in a bid to lower emissions and reduce electricity costs.

The EAF, which was first installed in 2013, was recently revamped by Danieli with two tailored shells and water-cooled roofs. The new shells that have a diameter of 7.1 meters will lower emissions and reduce power usage according to a press release by Danieli. The new order was placed 11 months ago and installed timely despite the COVID-19 related shutdowns.

Ferriere Nord is based in Osoppo, Italy and is part of the Pittini Group. The mill produces rebar, jumbo longs coils, standard meshes, lattice girders, and granella. The billets produced by continuous casting help feed the rolling mills of the Group. Products are sold domestically and exported.
