DCM Shriram’s Fenesta plans to set up a Rs250mn ($3.4mn) aluminum window and doors plant at Bhiwadi, Rajasthan in India.
In a recent media report, Saket Jain, Fenesta’s business head, said that the market for windows and doors in India was estimated at around Rs150bn annually, of which 65pc accounts for aluminum products. Jain also added that the bulk of this market is unorganized but is moving towards consolidation.
The investment will include expanding the company’s current facility in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan. Fenesta also plans to further invest another Rs100mn in further expansion of the plant in 2021. Speaking on the company’s revenue outlook, Jain said it was difficult to predict how the market would be placed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. He commented on market conditions as well, saying that the aluminum products market was operating at 70pc of the pre-pandemic levels.
The company has not disclosed the annual production capacity of the aluminum plant.
