Dengfeng Power Group halted operations at its aluminum alloy unit in Henan, China on Tuesday following an explosion caused by flooding. 

 

The province’s government stated that the river near the unit surpassed the warning water level and subsequently caused the collapse of a factory wall at around 4 am. Power was cut off and evacuations were planned immediately after the flooding. Still, the unit’s high-temperature solution in the alloy tank got flooded at 6 am causing the explosion. 

 

The facility produces high-silicon aluminum alloys, titanium products, and alloy rods and has a capacity of producing 60,000mt of these products per year.
