Industrial production in the EU climbed by 0.5pc in April compared to the previous month and increased by 38.7pc against the year-ago month, according to Eurostat.
Production of durable consumer goods in the EU rose by 2.9pc in April against the preceding month and by 110.4pc against April 2020 while capital goods increased by 0.8pc from the preceding month and by 67.5pc compared to the year-ago month. Intermediate goods increased by 0.5pc in April against March but rose by 36.9pc compared to the same month a year ago.
In April, the EU decreased its seasonally adjusted construction production by 1.6pc compared to March but increased it by 32.7pc compared to the same year-ago month. Civil engineering fell by 5.4pc as building construction dropped by 0.7pc in April compared to the previous month but increased by 33.9pc and 225.4pc, respectively, compared to the year-ago month.
