The European Commission announced that as of Nov 13, imports of hot-rolled flat products of iron, non-alloy or other alloy steel originating in Turkey are subject to registration. The order was made pursuant to Eurofer’s September 17, 2020 registration request.
However, stainless steel, silicon electrical steel, products not in coils, and certain thickness specifications are not subject to registrations
The decision is part of the anti-dumping proceeding that started May 14, 2020, following a complaint lodged by Eurofer on March 31, 2020. Eurofer proceeded with the complaint on behalf of producers representing over 25pc of the total EU production of the hot-rolled flat products under review.
The complaint alleged a history of dumping from Turkey and a substantial rise in imports in 2020 including post-initiation of investigation, which would undermine the remedial effect if an anti-dumping duty was eventually assessed.
