The weekly Davis Index for HMS 1&2 (75:25) in the ARAG region increased by €6/mt ($7/mt) to €323/mt delivered dockside on Tuesday as scrap exporters competed with European mills for tonnages.
Ferrous scrap suppliers from the Netherlands (Amsterdam, Rotterdam) and Belgium (Antwerp, Ghent) raised collection prices amid rising competition and strong demand, especially for prime scrap in the EU.
Exporters are firm in their offers for HMS 1&2 (75:25) at $425/mt cfr to Turkey and HMS 1&2 (80:20) at $430/mt, cfr even though Turkish buying activity declined this week, as they may redirect cargoes to Egypt after receiving inquiries from that destination.
The weekly Davis Indexes for HMS 1 and bonus scrap in the ARAG region both also increased by €6/mt ($7/mt) to €333/mt delivered dockside and €338/mt delivered, respectively, on Tuesday.
