Esir Technologies intends to build a new gigafactory that is expected to produce 1.2 million batteries, equivalent to 2 GWh.
The company has forecasted a total investment of $200mn for the 80-acre facility, with an initial investment of approximately $75mn in phase one. Randy Moore, Esir Technologies’ president and chief executive officer (CEO) stated that the company is undergoing expansion at its Missouri location and is exploring other cities for the gigafactory as a part of its expansion plans.
Moore added that Esir’s new factory location will be announced in June and would initially employ 300-400 people with a potential to increase the workforce to 1,000.
Esir Technologies is a provider of nickel-zinc energy storage sections to the aerospace, defence, medical, and critical infrastructure (including data centers) industries.
