Paris-based miner Eramet expects its nickel production to remain unchanged at the New Caledonia mine at 3.5mn mt and has targeted a higher production level at the Weda Bay nickel plant in Indonesia to 12mn mt.
The New Caledonia mine which is under Societe Le Nickel (SLN) – a subsidiary of Eramet is also planning to increase its ferro nickel output to 45,000mt in H2 2021. Eramet has forecasted about 40,000mt nickel ferroalloy output from its Weda Bay Nickel plant.
The company’s nickel turnover in H1 2021 grew by 41pc €515mn ($610.9mn) compared to €366mn in H1 2020. The firm’s total turnover including other metals and nickel rose by 11pc to €1.8bn in the first half of the year compared to €1.6bn in H1 2020.
Its EBITDA surged by 144pc to €293mn in H1 2021 compared to €120mn in H1 2020.
