The Ecuadorian government has suspended operations at Aceria Xinlong SA steel plant located in Milagro in the country’s Guayas province for health code breaches and occupational risks to workers on April 1, 2021, as per local media reports citing a statement by the government.
The Chinese-origin steel mill will remain close for an indefinite period of time. The government said that it decided to halt activities at the plant after an inspection of the facility where it discovered a violation of several labor laws, including safety and health codes.
The administration also found out that there were undocumented illegal workers at the facility without formal contracts.
Aceria Xinlong SA is a Chinese company in Ecuador, with a head office in Milagro. It was established on October 8, 2014.
