Chicago Tube and Iron (CTI), has appointed William (Bill) Zielinski as its new president and chief operating officer.

Zielinski’s new roles at the Olympic Steel subsidiary follow a wide breadth of experience going back to 1979 when he held different sales leadership positions with Bliss and Laughlin Steel. He has been at CTI since 1992, beginning as a product manager before being promoted to insider sales manager, general manager, vice president of the eastern region, and vice president of marketing. Before his most recent promotion, Zielinski was the executive vice president and chief operating officer of CTI for four years.

Zielinski replaces Dr. Donald R. McNeeley as president as part of a planned succession that will see the latter remain with CTI as its chairman.

CTI distributes steel tubing, pipes, bars, values, fittings, and fabricates pressure parts for the electric utility industry.

The company is a subsidiary of Olympic Steel, a US metals service center that sells coated and stainless flat-rolled sheets, processed carbon, coil and plate steel, tin plates, aluminum, and metal intensive brand products.
