Italy’s crude steel production fell by 5.2pc to 23.24mn mt in 2019 from the year prior, according to data released by Italian steel association (Federacciai). The production in 2019 declined on a fall in demand.

Output of flat steel products in 2019 fell by 4.8pc to 10.62mn mt from 2018. Production of longs fell by 1.6pc to 12.20mn mt.
In Dec 2019, crude steel production fell by 17.3pc to 1.413mn mt from the prior year. Output of flat steel products in the month fell by 35.8pc to 577,000mt, the biggest drop in a month since 2014.
Output of long products in December fell 5.8pc to 757,000mt on extended Christmas stoppages.
