Colombia’s iron ore and steel exports rose by 98.7pc to 8,734mt in February, from 4,395mt shipped in the same month last year according to the National Administrative Department of Statistics (Dane).

 

The South American country’s aluminum and aluminum shipments also increased by 27.6pc to 7,066mt in February, from 5,539mt in the same month last year, Dane data indicated. Exports of ferronickel climbed by 1,079pc to 6,491mt from 551mt during the same time frame.

 

Copper exports, however, fell by 13.3pc to 2,515mt in February, from 2,901mt in the same month of the prior year and lead shipments declined by 49.5pc to 201mt from 397mt in the same period, Dane noted.

 

Colombia’s car and automotive accessories shipments declined by 42.9pc to 2,456mt in February, from 4,305mt shipped in the same month of 2020.

 

Crude steel production in Colombia fell by 5.8pc to 101,831mt in February, from 108,106mt, according to Colombia’s Committee of Steel Producers.
