Colombia’s mining exports increased by 27.2% in January over the prior year period, and were valued at $2bn.

 

Mining exports jumped on higher demand from coal, coke, and briquettes, according to figures released by Colombia’s National Administrative Department of Statistics (Dane).

 

Coal, coke, and briquettes shipments rose by 81.1pc to $826.5mn in January, compared to the same month in 2019.

 

Non-ferrous exports increased by 22.1pc in January on an annual basis to reach $4.9mn, Dane said.

 

Colombia’s exports were mainly shipped to the US, Panama, China, Turquía, Mexico, Brazil, and Ecuador.

 

However, Colombia’s manufacturing exports declined by 17.2pc to $551.3mn in January 2020.
