Colombian Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Tourism has issued a resolution to initiate an anti-dumping (AD) investigation on Chinese imports of alloy and non-alloy steel profiles in galvanized and galvalume sheets, simply obtained or cold finished, for lightweight construction, non-structural, with thicknesses equal to or less than 0.46 mm.
The investigating authorities will probe and determine anti-dumping duty on products with code 7216.61.00.00, 7216.69.00.00, 7216.91.00.00, 7216.99.00.00, and 7228.70.00.00.
The petitioners for the anti-dumping duty are domestic companies Consorcio Metalurgico Nacional SAS and Manufacturas SAS. The preliminary research for the investigation is currently underway.
In July, the country’s crude steel production declined by 11.2pc to 108,498mt from last year.
The Colombian steel industry is worried about the hike in steel imports, especially from China, as it is hurting the domestic businesses. The country imports around 500,000mt of steel annually.
Earlier, Colombian authorities had initiated a sunset review of anti-dumping duty on L-shaped and U-shaped steel profiles imported from China.
