Chile’s largest copper producer, Codelco, has increased the copper output from its Salvador division located in Atacama, Chile.
After reporting increased operational efficiency at its Andina facility, the miner followed a similar strategy at Salvador. According to the company’s release on Oct 2, copper production at Salvador has increased by 2pc despite the country’s ongoing struggle with the COVID-19 pandemic since March.
While Codelco did not disclose the actual volumes of copper output from this plant, it produced 50,561mt of refined copper in 2019. The red metal producer said that it has improved processing rates at its concentrator and hydrometallurgy plant in the region as well.
