North American steel producer Commercial Metals Co (CMC) will increase its steel production outflow by 600,000nt (544,311mt) annually through this new merchant micro mill in Northeast Mesa, USA.
The new mill will nearly double CMC’s output and add 186 new jobs to produce rebars and other steel products. CMC also reiterated to the media on Tuesday Mesa City’s zoning council gave its final approval for construction on Apr 5. The new mill will be located near CMC’s existing mill in Mesa city.
CMC had first revealed its construction plans for this mill in August last year.
The company has plants in North America and Europe and reported a 5.87pc increase in its Q2 2021 steel shipment volumes in the US last month.
