Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

Chinese machinery and manufactured goods exported in June stood at $3.43bn for iron and steel and at $1.57bn for non-ferrous metal goods exports. 

 

For the first six months in 2020, the same categories accounted for $23.3bn and $11.1bn respectively. Actual volumes were not disclosed by the authorities. Export values for ferrous machinery dropped by 19pc in H1 2020 compared with the same period last year, while non-ferrous machinery export values declined by 16.6pc during the same period.

 

China’s iron and steel imports in June were valued at $3.64bn while the non-ferrous segment was worth $5.69bn. In H1 2020, ferrous goods accounted for $15.2bn of total imports, an increase of 30.2pc over the prior-year period, while Non-ferrous imports were valued at $26.3bn, climbing 15.6pc during the same period under comparison. 

 

Other unspecified metal manufactured exports accounted for $9.4bn in June and $44.1bn in H1. Their Imports stood at $1.2bn in June and $6.9bn for the first six months of 2020. In this category, exports fell 6.2pc while imports dipped 11.6pc in H12020, from H1 2019.
