China’s manufactured goods exports fell by 19.7pc and 13.5pc in the ferrous and non-ferrous segments, respectively, during January-October 2020, data from the country’s customs statistics indicated.
Manufactured goods exported in the first 10 months of 2020 tallied at $37.64bn in iron and steel while non-ferrous metal goods accounted for $19bn.
In October, China exported $3.7bn worth of iron and steel manufactured goods with non-ferrous exports tallying at $2.3bn. Iron and steel imports of manufactured goods in October stood at $3.5bn while the non-ferrous segment was worth $6.4bn. The value of exports rose while import values fell in October compared to September.
From January to October, the value of imported ferrous goods increased by 56.6pc to $31.59bn from the prior year. Non-ferrous goods imports were valued at $53.31bn rising 35.6pc on an annual basis.
Unspecified metal manufactured goods exports tallied at $83.56bn in January-October rising by 2.3pc from last year while imports accounted for $11.72bn, down by 9.9pc in the same period under comparison. In October, these segments were valued at $9.8bn and $1.2bn, respectively.
