China’s car production of major automakers fell by 6.9pc in the first half of October from the prior year, according to preliminary data from 11 top carmakers reported by China Association of Automobile Manufacturers. Key producers’ sales fell by 3.9pc during the period.
Eleven major auto companies in China produced 1.215mn units and sold 1.027mn vehicles in the first half of October, according to statistics reported by the association.
Production of passenger vehicles was 1.039mn units, a growth of 2.8pc from the prior-year period, while sales was 925,000 units down by 5.3pc. Commercial vehicles production rose by 40pc to 176,000 units and sales of the segment improved by 11.5pc to 101,000 units from a year ago.
In September, China’ passenger car sales increased by 8pc to 2.088mn units from the prior year, while production rose by 9.5pc to 2.045mn units.
