China issued the eight batch of scrap import quotas for 2020, permitting the import of 5,840mt of aluminium scrap and 1,570mt of copper scrap. 


The Chinese authorities issued an import license to Lanxi Boyuan Metal to import 5,840mt of aluminium scrap at Ningbo port, and to four other recyclers to import 1,570mt of copper scrap at the South China Sea port. China has approved 483,999mt of aluminium scrap and 541,754mt of copper scrap quotas since the beginning of the year. 


The country had announced new standards of metal scrap imports in Jan 2020, reclassifying high-grade aluminium and copper scrap as a resource, permitting its import into the country. The new standards were to come into effect starting July 01, however, the country has not released further details causing confusion among exporters.
