Aluminium producer China Hongqiao plans to begin recycling of aluminium at its facility in Shandong by year-end, according to media reports.
The aluminium producer had formed a joint venture with Scholz Recycling Group in 2020 to build an aluminium recycling park in Zouping. The park would be able to process 500,00mt of aluminium scrap annually and reduce average annual carbon emissions by 1.9mn mt once fully operational.
The company wants to use more scrap and tap cleaner power sources for the energy-intensive smelting process to cut its environmental footprint.
