China Enfi Engineering Technology and Kamoa Copper SA signed the contract for Kamoa-Kakula Phase AA in Kolwezi, Congo.
Kamoa-Kakura project is the copper mine under construction. The average grade of raw ore processed during the first 5 years of operation of mine was as high as 6.6pc.
The duration of the contract signed with ENFI is for 20 months. After the project is completed, the ore processing capacity will reach 7.6mn mt per year, and the annual copper metal output will reach 400,000mt.
The long-term goal of the project is to expand the production to 19mn mt of ore processing per year, and the annual maximum copper metal output will exceed 800,000mt.
This contract is considered as an important step in China’s going out strategy, mentioned the report published by China’s Nonferrous metal association.
China Enfi is into EPC services, research, supervision, equipment development and supply for upstream and downstream services for the mining projects. The company was established in 1953 in Beijing.
The Kamoa Copper Project is in the Kolwezi District, Katanga, Congo (DRC). The project includes the development of a 5mn mt underground mine and a concentrator to produce blister copper and sulphuric acid.
