Davis Index – Daily metal prices, scrap prices & global metal market

China has officially set new quality standards for recycled aluminum, copper, and brass scrap imported into the country, according to the Bureau of International Recycling.

With the ban on solid waste imports into the country, including for metals like copper and aluminum, China will only permit recycled base metals that meet standards coming into effect on January 1, 2021.

Throughout this year, China had been approving quotas for metal scrap imports. However, it will only sanction imports of semi-finished products beginning next year, the agency informed. BIR also noted that China is working on similar standards for iron and steel scrap.
