ČEZ Group, a Czech Industry Ministry and majority state-owned utility, intends to build a 40GWh electric vehicle (EV) battery plant in the Czech Republic, with an estimated investment of over $2bn.

 

The company signed a memorandum of support with the Czech ministry and has forecasted to employ about 2,300 people in the initial phase according to media reports on Jul 27. 

 

ČEZ is also seeking partnerships for this project from the car or battery industry and Karel Havlicek, industry minister, stated that there are conversations being had with Volkswagen, which owns Skoda Auto in the country, and South Korea’s LG.
