Spanish steel company Celsa group will set up a new rolling mill in Boucau and Tornos, France to boost its capacity. The mill which entails an investment of €60mn is likely to be operational within twenty months.
With this new rolling mill designed with the latest technology, the company targets its annual output of finished steel to reach 600,000mt.
Celsa Group operates in eleven countries. It recycles 8mn mt of ferrous scrap annually. The company produced 7mn mt of steel in 2018.
This project aims to increase competitiveness, reduce the cost of production, improve logistics, maximise profits and lower the energy consumption by reducing emissions from transport, according to the company. Celsa has placed an order with Spanish supplier Russula for the equipment need for this expansion.
