Indian origin industrialist Lord Swraj Paul’s Caparo Group is planning to set up a high-speed steel pipe mill in Texas. The proposed steel and sprinkler pipe mill will have an annual production capacity of 350,000mt. The mill will be owned by Bull Moose Tube BMT, a subsidiary of Caparo group in London.
Production on the Sintonbased plant is likely to begin by 2023.
Caparo’s seventh plant in the US will see an investment of $200-250mn. German company SMS group is behind the implementation of the design and automation of the plant, according to media reports.
BMT is looking forward to expanding its global footprint with the Texas plant which will serve customers on the West Coast of the US and Mexico.The company is trying to expand its market share in the high-speed steel market by increasing its capacity and capabilities. The target is to be a leader in the sprinkler pipe market.
BMT steel is used in engineering and household products in fire protection, housing, construction, and transportation sector.
