Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

Canada’s retail trade increased by 24.6pc in May this year to C$53.7bn ($42.7bn) from the same month last year while it fell by 2.1pc from April, according to Statistics Canada (StatCan). 

 

Motor vehicles and part dealers saw a 60.4pc surge in retail trade in May to C$14.4bn annually and it dropped by 2.4pc from the previous month. Sales of passenger cars and trucks rose by 30pc in May compared to last year.

 

Automotive parts and accessories saw an 8.4pc increase to C$934mn in May from the same month last year while it dropped by 4.3pc from April this year, StatCan stated.
