Canada plans to slap retaliatory tariffs on US aluminium goods on September 16th, as a counter measure to the 10pc tariffs US imposed on Canadian Aluminium imports recently, as per various media reports.
Sanctions worth C$3.6bn ($2.7bn) would be imposed on various aluminium products, Deputy Prime Minister, Chrystia Freeland, said in a media statement.
While many Canadian companies look at this as an opportunity, some do not want see their imported products be subjected to tariffs, Mark Agnew, senior director at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce stated.
The Canadian Chamber of Commerce and United Steelworkers Union are waiting for clear information on this matter from the government.
