California Steel Industries (CSI) has appointed Shinji Tanaka as its new chief executive officer.
Tanaka joined CSI in January from JFE Steel in Japan, which shares CSI’s ownership with Vale. He has worked with JFE since 1989 as the general manager of overseas business planning.
Tanaka will replace Botelho Rodrigues who will return to Vale, where he was controller, global director, before serving as the president and chief executive officer of CSI since August 2016.
The appointment is part of the holding companies’ practice to rotate leadership among the three companies.
