Chinese auto manufacturer BYD’s total vehicle sales in January rose to 42,401 units, up by 68.44pc from the prior year but fell by 24.72pc from 56,322 units sold in December, according to media reports.

 

The company’s new energy vehicle (NEV) sales in January grew by 182.88pc to 20,178 units from the year prior, while oil-fueled vehicle sales stood at 22,223 units, up by 23.19pc.

 

Of all NEV vehicle sales, BYD sold 14,463 units of all-electric passenger vehicles (PVs) in January, registering a growth of 181.16pc in the segment from the preceding year. It also sold 5,408 units of plug-in electric PVs which registered a growth of 188.27pc from January 2020.

 

In the oil-fueled segment, both sedan and SUV vehicle sales registered double-digit growth.

The company is about to start an EV 2.0 full electric platform in 2021 that adopts many new technologies like SiC power modules and heat pumps. The company is also planning to roll out 5 to 6 new NEV models in 2021 and aims to sell around 400,000 NEVs in 2021, as per local media reports.
